6th - 8th  October 2017

Fáilte go Feile na Sollán 2017!

Welcome to Féile Na Sollán 2017, a weekend-long celebration of Irish traditional music, traditional Irish culture and our native language, planned for Sallins for October 6th to 8th. This festival will be our fifth, and we are excited to present a jam-packed schedule of events including the best of Irish traditional music in each of the pubs over the weekend, a community céilí in the parish hall, a drumming workshop, a barge trip on the Grand Canal, arts and crafts, story-telling for the younger kids and a family show with the hilarious Guido Fanzini!

The Saturday night concert is always our main event, and this year we delighted to have FullSet on stage upstairs in the Bridgewater Inn for what promises to be an amazing live musical experience for the audience. FullSet are one of Ireland’s most accomplished and sought-after bands in Irish traditional music today. A young and exciting group, FullSet creates an exciting sound that is full of energy and innovation and I encourage you not to miss them. It is a privilege to have them headline our 2017 schedule.

Féile na Sollán is also celebration of the Irish language with Irish language events such as Caifé agus Ceol, Gradam na Sollán, children’s arts and crafts and a fun-filled family show. We encourage all of our festival goers to have some fun and get into the spirit of the festival and to use whatever Irish you have at any of the events.

New additions to this year’s festival include an Irish dancing expo with the Sutton school of dance, an outdoor gig by Newbridge band Cathú, and the exceptional Narraghmore Pipe Band, who will be performing by the banks of the Grand Canal on Saturday afternoon. We round off the weekend with a closing session led by our local traditional groups Sult and Fonn Nua along with some very special guests in The Railway Inn.

A special word of thanks to the very hard-working festival committee, to our sponsors Kildare County Council and Creative Ireland, and to local business for supporting us through advertising and by providing us with prizes for the raffle.

We hope that you’ll join in some of the many activities and that this year’s festival will a weekend to remember. All the details are on our website where you can find the full list of events and where you can also buy tickets for any of the ticketed events.

We look forward to seeing you there. Bainigí sult as!
